Transportation Safety: Tips for Safe Travel This Holiday Weekend

As the holiday weekend approaches, we would like to wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July – it’s going to be a busy one! AAA is reporting an estimated 41 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home this weekend, with nearly 80% traveling by automobile.

Transportation Safety: Tips for Safe Travel This Holiday Weekend

At Ace Asphalt, transportation safety is very important to us. After all, we’ve made it our business for 45 years. Yes, the roads and parking lots we help you construct and maintain make your property look better and move traffic around more efficiently, but ultimately our goal is to keep drivers, passengers, and pedestrians safe.

Here are a few recommendations from the National Safety Council to ensure you have a safe holiday weekend on the roads:

  1. Refrain from cell phone use – Phones take your eyes off the road and your hands off the wheel – a dangerous, and potentially lethal, combination.
  2. Don’t drink and drive – Celebrate Independence Day, but do it responsibly. A designated non-drinking driver or alternate transportation option should be in your plan if you intend to drink.
  3. Ensure all children are placed in age-appropriate safety seats and never leave a little one unattended in a vehicle.
  4. Stay alert – Be aware of drivers around you as well as objects in the road. And if you want to watch fireworks, please pull off the road.

Get out there this weekend and make some great memories! And don’t forget the six Fs: family, friends, fireworks, food, fun, and most importantly, freedom.
