Yearly Highlights

1966 – John Drexler (JD) starts Parking Stripes Company, a parking lot striping business in Butler, Wisconsin.

1970 – The company moves to an old farmstead in Pewaukee, Wisconsin to expand services to include sealcoating; Asphalt Maintenance and Striping Company is formed.

1979 – A second office is opened in Madison, Wisconsin with an expanded offering of paving and asphalt repair. Company reports $1.5 million in sales, making it one of the largest of its kind in the Midwest. Tim Drexler, JD’s son, is promoted to his first management position.

1981 – Wanting to work year-round, the Drexler family opens a satellite office in Phoenix, Arizona; Ace Asphalt of Arizona is formed.

1984 – Wisconsin operations are sold to its employees to devote full attention to growing the Arizona operations.

1987 – Ace Asphalt opens an office in Tucson, Arizona.

1989 – The company adds earthwork and grading for new commercial construction projects to its repertoire.

1991 – JD is named Small Business Person of the Year by the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, and Ace reports $10 million in sales.

2003 – Ace moves into its newly developed facilities on the south side of the Salt River on 7th Street in Phoenix. The company reports $55 million in sales.
